Girl in Hole/Girl on Pole

Cayden-she climbed down in the whole Grandpa had dug for the new corner post-then-
She climbs up the post after Grandpa sets it in the hole! What a monkey!

The section of new fence! This side is next to the garden-a few feet out from the old fence-so the garden should be safe!!
We transplanted the new Hibiscus next to the new back steps last-along with the gardenias that came up on their own-hopefully they'll all make it! Oh-and 1 Live Oak tree from Jeff's mom. The garden is looking great-the tomatoes are loving the warmer weather. The peppers are slow to adjust-but they should snap out of it OK. We have a few potatoes up-along with a few beets and carrots. We planted more potatoes and carrots on Tuesday. Can't plant anything else until April 1st-so we have to wait til the end of next week to start planting the corn, green beans, and peas.
The chicks are holding their own-we did lose one-but it was the one that we didn't think would survive. Lucy is growing like a weed-and has grown used to our voices. When we get close to the pasture gate-she's starts grunting and running around her pen. She's so cute.
We still need lots of rain, though. We have slight chance around the middle of next week-hope we get some!!

HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

We did it!!! We made it to 30 years! And talk about time going by fast!! It just doesn't seem possible that that much time could go past-but then when you look at your kids-adults themselves-you know that it must have!! We married so young-Jeff was 19 and I had just turned 16-Julie was born almost 2 years later-but we have each other for a best friend and can hardly stand to be away from each other for any length of time! We don't have any big plans for tonight-but we are taking Friday off from work and leaving for the beach on Thursday afternoon. We stayed at my Grandparents beach house for a few days after we got married-funny-we always migrate to the coast!
Mom is still in the hospital-they are worried about her leg now. She said she will have to have home health care when she goes home-they don't want her up on her leg at all. The bruising is pretty bad and they are afraid of blood clots. So we'll see what happens with this. Shorty has to go to Houston today to the VA for a Doc appointment-he'll ride the bus from Livingston.
I managed to get more of the garden weeded yesterday-it was SO nice outside-a cool breeze would blow through every now and then. I got 9 tomatoes, 9 broccoli, and 9 red cabbage planted. I shoveled 3 five gallon buckets of rabbit manure and added to the beds. Jeff worked on getting a hot wire strung up at his parents so we can extend the pasture a little bit for the cows. Where they normally have their garden the grass is over knee high-Ike had torn up the front of the fence and when we rebuilt it-we just moved way back the other side of the garden. So this afternoon-we'll open the gate and let them in there for a few hours. We don't quite trust them yet to stay in there-they haven't been in a hot wire fence in some time-and the calves never have been-but they learn quick to stay away! We ended the evening with a soak in the hot tub-so relaxing and what a great anniversary gift to ourselves!
Gotta go! Have a great day!

Vacation???

Randy and Ricky digging the last bit of the drench for the waterline. Jeff was gone to the ER with his Dad-so Ricky got all the line dug to the barn and almost to the front pasture-then him and Randy finished it up. Boy was Jeff grateful to the two of them!! You can see a small part of the new fence in the background.
This is the pond(lake!) that Curtis, Jr dug this week! That is Jordan standing near the bottom-there is a small deeper hole that he's next to. A small area above where Jordan is standing is now seeping water-so he might have hit an underground spring!

Well-we stayed REALLY busy this last week. On Monday, we took a trip down to the beach just to check on things. It had been raining alot down there and all of our lots were standing in water. All the drainage ditches are full of sand and there's no where for the water to run off. Hailey went with us and she took the devestation well. We were worried about her-she's been with us every step of the way with the house-even at closing. We did find a few more of our things-Jeff even found one of my lamps that I really was hoping to find! Tuesday we got to working on the little pasture up front so we could let the calves out of the barn and back on grass-not that there's much of it this time of year. We finished it on Thursday and boy they were happy to be able to run around again. Friday was spent up at Mom and Shorty's doing odd jobs and cleaning up some around their house. Saturday Jeff started running new water line from our meter to the house and barn. The old black pipe was starting to get lots of leaks so it was time. Sunday morning Jeff had to take his Dad to the ER-he was having trouble breathing again. They admitted him-he should come home today sometime. And Jeff had to go back to work this morning. All in all, we've had a nice Christmas and New Year's and vacation all rolled into one-even if it goes by faster each year!!!

Another Busy Week??

Well-seems we managed to stay busy again this week! I did get 1 raised bed built and almost filled will rotted compost on Monday and got the tomato plant transplanted. It didn't look too good for a few days-it turned off really warm here-mid to upper 80's!! This morning a little front has moved through-had to build a fire in the heater to take the chill off. I'm SOO glad all the election stuff is OVER-tired of all the campaign commercials!! We had a litter of bunnies born on Wednesday-4 live and 1 dead. I worked at the school on Tuesday through Thursday and this morning Jeff has a Doc visit in Conroe. Got several loads of clothes out on the line drying and we have to go up to Mom's later and help get some things done up there. We have 5 rolls of hay up at their place we need to get moved home-the cows are about out of grass here and we have a few fences that need major repairs since the hurricane. Even have 1 pasture that never has been fenced that REALLY needs it!!!
