Homemade Crackers

Thought I'd try my hand at making Homemade Crackers today-and they turned out pretty good if I can say so myself! Here's the recipe and tutorial if you'd like to try them for yourself:

Start by adding:
1-1/4 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour
3/4 Teaspoon of Salt
2 Tablespoons of Yeager Farm Honey( just kidding-any Honey will do!)
4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, Chilled
Beat with electric mixer until mixture is course. With mixer going add:
5 Tablespoons Ice Water (might need more)

Mix until Dough forms a ball.

Place dough on well floured surface and roll out until about 1/8 of an inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter-like I did, or cut into 1 1/2 in squares with a pizza cutter, or use any shaped cookie cutter.

Next, place your crackers on a parchment lined cookie sheet. They won't rise, so you can place them close together. With a fork, prick each cracker-I put a "Y" in each of mine! Sprinkle salt on the tops and lightly press it in.
Bake at 400 degrees for 8-12 minutes or until lightly brown around the edges. Let cool-they will continue to crisp up as they cool. Store in an air tight container for up to a week-if they last that long!

And, yes, Jeff does like them, although I'm not too sure about the expression on his face! I think I'll make them a little thinner next time. We are having homemade chili for supper, so these will go great with it.
Best of all-the SUN just started shining while I was writing this-so I'm outta here! Gonna go soak up some Vitamin D-I really need it!
