Tractor!!!

Jeff & Jordan spreading the last of the dirt at the beach on Saturday afternoon.
All 5 of the grandkids-they aren't proud of the new toy-are they? Mady is the only one who hasn't "driven" it yet. We have come up with a WHOLE list of chores for the new tractor to do-boy is it gonna be busy for awhile!

Well-we finally bit the bullet and bought a new tractor! We got a Montana with a front-end loader and a brush hog. We took it down to the beach on Saturday afternoon and got the last pile of dirt spread and the grass planted. It's looking better down there. We had to come back home early- Jeff's mom had a slight heart attack and was in the hospital. Thank God-she's OK!!! She has to follow up with her Doc this week.

The garden is looking better. We have a few tomatoes blooming and the cukes and squash are really growing! Jeff's nephew, Jason, brought us 11 baby chicks Saturday morning. His wife, Leigh Ann is a teacher and the class had hatched them out as a class project and I got to keep the babies! Hopefully the coons won't be able to get these! I've put them in a different cage this time!! Have a great week!

Wonderful News, but Bad, too!

We had the greatest pleasure to get to welcome our best friend's oldest son, Travis, home yesterday! He has been gone for 7 years and it is SO good to know he's back were he belongs! His Mom, Sheila, also has a blog here-so I'm sure when she comes down off the clouds-she'll post some of her beautiful writings!(Just The Burt's)And as it sometimes seems-with all good news-comes some bad. We found out on Saturday that one of the kids that grew up down the road here from us was found dead by his wife. Phillip was always smiling around us. And he was the one person Trav was most waiting to see. Tough times during such joy!!

Boy, did it rain here Saturday! Pat & Joe-sure hope you got some of it up in Trinity!! We had NO pasture for quite a while-it was totally water! We lost one of the baby pigs, too. We assume she almost drowned-by the other pigs piling up on her. We gave her a shot on Saturday when we found her-but she died Sunday. We heard some places had 4-6 inches of rain! I thought my garden was gone-but when the water drained off-it just needs some minor repair! I have to wait til it dries up some to get in there!

Well-I better go-gotta get ready for work!! Have a great day!

Bunnies & Beets & Brocolli

Jordan & Cayden with the beets they pulled from the garden!
Kaytlynn & Jordan helping me sell the bunnies near Conroe. They kept wrapping the bunnies up in their jackets-as if they were cold!

Well, we did set up Friday evening and sold 5 of the 7 bunnies we took! Saturday morning we set up over close to Conroe. I took 7 more bunnies and 3 of the adults-I HAVE to get rid of some! I sold 1 doe and 5 more of the bunnies! Still have 2 of the oldest bunnies and 3 more that will be old enough to go this weekend. Alana may try to sell those for me!

Jordan , Cayden and me pulled some of the beets Sunday morning and I cooked them for lunch. All the grandkids tried them-but no one but Jeff and me will eat them!

Yesterday we cut the first of the brocolli-some of the heads were huge! I put 3 quart bags in the freezer! We had to cover up all the tomato and pepper plants-it was supposed to get a little to close for comfort to the freezing mark this morning! It's 33 degrees out now and it's almost 6:00am-it'll drop a little more before daylight!

Guess I'll finish for now-gotta get ready for work! And everyone-Have a Happy Easter!!
