Tractor!!!

Jeff & Jordan spreading the last of the dirt at the beach on Saturday afternoon.
All 5 of the grandkids-they aren't proud of the new toy-are they? Mady is the only one who hasn't "driven" it yet. We have come up with a WHOLE list of chores for the new tractor to do-boy is it gonna be busy for awhile!

Well-we finally bit the bullet and bought a new tractor! We got a Montana with a front-end loader and a brush hog. We took it down to the beach on Saturday afternoon and got the last pile of dirt spread and the grass planted. It's looking better down there. We had to come back home early- Jeff's mom had a slight heart attack and was in the hospital. Thank God-she's OK!!! She has to follow up with her Doc this week.

The garden is looking better. We have a few tomatoes blooming and the cukes and squash are really growing! Jeff's nephew, Jason, brought us 11 baby chicks Saturday morning. His wife, Leigh Ann is a teacher and the class had hatched them out as a class project and I got to keep the babies! Hopefully the coons won't be able to get these! I've put them in a different cage this time!! Have a great week!

Wonderful News, but Bad, too!

We had the greatest pleasure to get to welcome our best friend's oldest son, Travis, home yesterday! He has been gone for 7 years and it is SO good to know he's back were he belongs! His Mom, Sheila, also has a blog here-so I'm sure when she comes down off the clouds-she'll post some of her beautiful writings!(Just The Burt's)And as it sometimes seems-with all good news-comes some bad. We found out on Saturday that one of the kids that grew up down the road here from us was found dead by his wife. Phillip was always smiling around us. And he was the one person Trav was most waiting to see. Tough times during such joy!!

Boy, did it rain here Saturday! Pat & Joe-sure hope you got some of it up in Trinity!! We had NO pasture for quite a while-it was totally water! We lost one of the baby pigs, too. We assume she almost drowned-by the other pigs piling up on her. We gave her a shot on Saturday when we found her-but she died Sunday. We heard some places had 4-6 inches of rain! I thought my garden was gone-but when the water drained off-it just needs some minor repair! I have to wait til it dries up some to get in there!

Well-I better go-gotta get ready for work!! Have a great day!

Bunnies & Beets & Brocolli

Jordan & Cayden with the beets they pulled from the garden!
Kaytlynn & Jordan helping me sell the bunnies near Conroe. They kept wrapping the bunnies up in their jackets-as if they were cold!

Well, we did set up Friday evening and sold 5 of the 7 bunnies we took! Saturday morning we set up over close to Conroe. I took 7 more bunnies and 3 of the adults-I HAVE to get rid of some! I sold 1 doe and 5 more of the bunnies! Still have 2 of the oldest bunnies and 3 more that will be old enough to go this weekend. Alana may try to sell those for me!

Jordan , Cayden and me pulled some of the beets Sunday morning and I cooked them for lunch. All the grandkids tried them-but no one but Jeff and me will eat them!

Yesterday we cut the first of the brocolli-some of the heads were huge! I put 3 quart bags in the freezer! We had to cover up all the tomato and pepper plants-it was supposed to get a little to close for comfort to the freezing mark this morning! It's 33 degrees out now and it's almost 6:00am-it'll drop a little more before daylight!

Guess I'll finish for now-gotta get ready for work! And everyone-Have a Happy Easter!!

LONG TIME!!!

MeMe and Kaytlynn planting Burgandy green beans!

Hailey with the carrot harvest!

The camper in place at the beach-FINALLY!!!

I CANNOT believe that this much time has gone by without me blogging!!!I have been SOOO busy and with working on computers all day @ work-I really don't want to or have time-to get on it in the afternoons!

Well LOTS has been going on around here lately! We finally found us a camper-and made some new friends in the process! Thanks Pat and Joe for everything! We took the camper down to the beach and were able to spend all of Spring Break there. The weather was wonderful-except for the day we pulled in and that night. We worked WAY too hard for what was supposed to be a week's vacation-but we are able now to get back to our little bit of paradise!!

The farm is doing well. We have 6 pigs left-they were weaned and wormed on Saturday. I have baby bunnies coming out my ears!!! Anybody looking to buy an Easter Bunny? I have some REALLY cute ones!! I'm planning to sit on the side of the road close to Conroe Saturday morning and try to sell them-probably close to 20 of 'em!

We've been busy working on the garden the last few days. Been eating lettuce for weeks now-it's SO good. It will keep in the frig for so much longer than the store bought stuff without wilting! Jeff & Hailey pulled the carrots the other day-got about 2 lbs or more. I was surprised-I cooked some the next night for supper-SO good! I put 2 packages in the freezer for later. We have planted green beans, lots of tomatoes, peppers(bell, salsa, and jalapenos!), cukes, squash and onions. Still have a few things left to put in.

Guess I'll go for now-I'll try harder to keep up!! Have a great day!

WOrk,Work, Work

I think I'm getting the hang of this 5 day a week thing!! But it was a pretty hectic week at home last week and I just didn't get around to posting! With the new pigs-we have only 6 left-but they are very healthy!- and all the visitors we had to see them and all the sick family-Alana has now been sick with this flu stuff for over a week-Jordan had it for 2 days-Ricky stayed home from work most of the week sick, too. Jeff had to work Saturday again and we had to run to Conroe that evening to pick up my new glasses. Yesterday we went and bought 4 rolls of hay from a guy that lives not too far from us that has rescued horses. Some were just beautiful!! But such sad stories!! Later we went up to the Burt's and saw the room they are working on for their oldest son, Travis. Then we rode down to the river on the 4-wheeler where another son-Jeremy-was fishing. We stayed down on the river for awhile-it's ALWAYS so peaceful down there! All in all -a great weekend! Oh-and I got some work done in the garden Saturday morning-one of the beds finished-mixed lettuce and spinich planted and finally got those red onions in the ground. Our weather is supposed to be warm this week with small chances of rain-we really need it! And the search for a camper is still on!! We really are ready to get back down to the beach!! Have a great day!

Still No Pigs!

We're STILL waiting!! She seems to be a little (or a lot!) attached to this litter! Jeff's brother James came by and looked at her yesterday-he seems to think she still has another week! And boy does she miserable! And to top it off-we had a cold front blow in this afternoon-temps dropped 20 degrees in about 10 minutes-and we could have sleet over night. But the sow hasn't built her bed/nest yet-so hopefully it'll warm up some again before she has them!
